(BRONX, NY) – May 5, 2016 – Bronx Terminal Market, in collaboration with The Bronx Museum of the Arts, will showcase a new community mural inspired by scenic outdoor locations in the Bronx, at a mural unveiling on Thursday, May 19th at 10:00 AM on the pedestrian bridge off of River Avenue and 151st Street.
The Bronx Museum Community Mural at Bronx Terminal Market is part of a greater initiative to integrate public art into the shopping center’s community space. From a grandiose 20’x40’ landscape, the mural will feature the High Bridge, Ferry Point Park, New York Botanical Garden, and Joyce Kilmer Park. The mural imagery is depicted through a gradient color palette based on photographs and sketches of the Bronx by artist Lindsey Warren, alumni of the Bronx Museum's emerging artist program, Artist in the Marketplace (AIM).
“The Bronx Museum of the Arts is delighted to collaborate with the historical site, Bronx Terminal Market, on this outdoor mural project alongside Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) alum Lindsey Warren. In addition to creating a platform for an emerging artist, The Bronx Museum Community Mural at Bronx Terminal Market celebrates the history and beauty of the borough with the local community through the arts.” said Holly Block, Executive Director of The Bronx Museum of the Arts.
“At Bronx Terminal Market, we pride ourselves in creating a diverse array of programming to serve our community. It has been a rewarding process to work directly with The Bronx Museum of the Arts and the artist, Lindsey Warren, to develop her vision into a public art piece that the community can enjoy," said Ed Hilla, Bronx Terminal Market Senior General Manager.
The event will include a speaking program by Bronx Terminal Market Senior General Manager, Ed Hilla, artist, Lindsey Warren, Bronx Museum of the Arts Executive Director, Holly Block, and an unveiling of the community mural.

The Bronx Museum Community Mural at Bronx Terminal Market
The mural is made up of 16 5'x10' panels, arranged into four images. Each image presents a location in the Bronx, significant for its visual interest, whether natural or constructed. I photographed each location and developed specific color palettes based on a conversation between local color and placement within the mural configuration. I had to take perspective of the viewer into consideration as most visitors will see the mural from below. This is the largest painting I have completed!

Almost all graduates go on to college, many alumni work in the creative industries, and all are poised for personal success.
This vibrant community of culturally diverse teens comes from more than 150 zip codes across six counties in Southern California. More than 80 percent live in low-income neighborhoods where schools provide little access to art and dropout rates are high.
RAWsalt, in support of Ryman Arts presents BACK TO SCHOOL, a juried exhibition open exclusively to Ryman Arts Alumni that will open in September 2015.

A few of my paintings are included in Gilded Age's spring show at their South Street Seaport store. Racked NY wrote that "Gilded Age chose that neighborhood because they wanted to be part of the revitalization after Hurricane Sandy. The store will also feature three to four New York artists each month, serving as a platform to jumpstart their careers. This initiative is in partnership with Chashama, a non-profit that supports the city's art community."

Thanks to everyone who came out for open studios last weekend! I hope you got some insight into my process and enjoyed seeing the unfinished work. If you missed open studios but want to stop by sometime contact me! I am always open to having visitors.
Starting new paintings is my favorite activity. Drawing and composing, excited and nervous about what will happen on day 2.
I am readying these three paintings for "Staycation" at Ground Floor Gallery in Brooklyn and preparing surfaces for new work. Should be an exciting and busy month!
I decided to build these gray frames for the two paintings going to Sight Specific at the Concord Art Association in MA. Come see them in person June 14th-August 13th.
Navigation and Buffalo
April has been a great month! It's sad to say goodbye to this studio, the town and the people I met here. I managed to fill this wall with different types and sizes drawings and I will definitely continue making the small gouache and large graphite drawings. Now back to Brooklyn, painting and the imagery I can't stop reproducing.
